Lima, a city full of contrasts, offers a wide variety of destinations, from the most intrepid to the most serene. For those seeking moments of peace and escape from the urban bustle, the Peruvian capital has beautiful parks and gardens that adorn its landscapes. These parks are not only havens of tranquility, but also ideal settings for walks as a couple. Here are some green gems selected for their tranquil atmosphere, large well-kept green areas and breathtaking views of the surrounding nature.
El Olivar Park
This park, with roots dating back to the colonial period, delights its visitors with more than 1400 olive trees that permeate the air with a pleasant aroma. Perfect for a romantic picnic or simply enjoying its extensive green areas, El Olivar Park covers approximately ten hectares. In addition to its lovely trails, the park is home to a small fish pond, the Municipal Library, the San Isidro Cultural Center and the Marina Nuñez del Prado Museum. With more than 400 years of history, this park provides a welcoming and unforgettable environment.
Love Park
Considered the most emblematic park of love, it features the sculpture "El Beso" (The Kiss) by Peruvian artist Victor Delfin. Inaugurated on February 14, 1993, this park offers an excellent view of the sea from its boardwalk. The twelve meter long and three meter high sculpture becomes a romantic backdrop to enjoy the sunset. The undulating walls decorated with romantic quotes from Peruvian poets add an extra touch of charm. Although February is the month of love, Parque del Amor is perfect to visit any time of the year.
Friendship Park
Despite its name, which might raise doubts in new relationships, the Parque de la Amistad is recognized as one of the most beautiful in Lima. Its main attraction is the Great Arch of Friendship or Moorish Arch, a replica built in 2001. With almost thirty thousand square meters, it offers ample space for walks and long conversations. In addition to the arch, the park houses a train station with a 1926 steam locomotive and an artificial lagoon, perfect for romantic boat rides.
Exposition Park
This park, one of the most important and beautiful in Lima, combines green areas with art. Its facilities serve as a stage for various events, but we recommend it for its impressive gardens and peaceful atmosphere. As you explore, you can enjoy the ecological elegance, Renaissance buildings, sculptures and various museums, such as the Italian Art Museum and the Metropolitan Museum of Lima. Located in downtown Lima, this park is also known for hosting craft fairs on its esplanade.
Reducto Park
This park, witness to the battle against the Chilean invasion in 1881, is now a National Monument. Offering a space for reflection and homage, Reducto Park has a replica of the old Miraflores train station, which houses the Andrés Avelino Cáceres Museum. With several green areas and the presence of birds, such as calandrias and tanagers, this place becomes a peaceful space to enjoy special moments with your loved one. In the midst of its history and nature, Parque Reducto offers a unique space for reflection and connection.
