The entrance tickets to Machu Picchu can be purchased online or in authorized offices in the city of Cusco.
If you do it online you must enter the official website: www.machupicchu.gob.pe. This option is highly recommended because availability is limited. Especially in the case of the entrance ticket to the Huayna Picchu mountain. This ticket must be purchased 3 or 4 months in advance.
If you do it in person you must buy the tickets in the following offices in Cusco:
The purchase of tickets in person is not recommended since they are subject to availability.
To purchase online, payment must be made with a credit or debit card.
The in-person purchase can be made with credit card or cash.
To purchase any of the tickets to Machu Picchu it is necessary to send a digital photo of your passport or valid identity card. If the visitor is a university student, he/she can send a digital photo of his/her university ID (ISIC is no longer accepted) and receive a special discount. Remember that these documents must be valid until the date of the visit to Machu Picchu. At the entrance gate to the Inca City, they will check that your document matches the data provided on the ticket, so do not forget to bring your document with you!
Until a few years ago there was no visiting limit. However, the new rules in Machu Picchu establish a visit limit. These times are relative since no one will require you to leave the site, although it is advisable to keep them in mind as they help to control the flow of tourists.
