ITINERARY
Daily Schedule
- 04:00 AM: Pick up from your hotel and transfer by tourist transportation.
- 04:30 AM: Travel from Cusco to Cusipata.
- 07:00 AM: Breakfast in a tourist restaurant.
- 09:00 AM: Hiking experience to the Rainbow Mountain and time to enjoy the landscape.
- 12:00 PM: Return to our transportation to go to the restaurant.
- 01:00 PM: Lunch in a tourist restaurant.
- 02:30 PM: Return trip to Cusco.
- 05:00 PM: End of the Tour.
Experience Details
Start of the Tour
The tour begins with the pick up at the hotel at 4:30 am, going to the Cusipata - Paucarpata town (3310 m.a.s.l.) in a 2 hour trip to the southeast of Cusco, on the route to the Ausangate snow-capped mountain. There we will enjoy a delicious breakfast.
Transportation and Hiking
After breakfast, we will travel for another hour to the checkpoint, where our hike will begin. Those who do not wish to hike can rent a horse at the entrance control. The hike, 1 hour and 30 minutes uphill, will take us to the summit of the Rainbow Mountain (Vinicunca) at 5100 meters above sea level. The trail offers an ever-changing landscape of brightly colored mountains and icy streams.
Top of the Mountain
Arriving at the top, our guide will explain the orography, the ecosystem and the colors of the Rainbow Mountain. We will have time to take pictures, contemplate the landscape and observe the wildlife, highlighting the presence of llamas and alpacas.
Return to Cusco
After enjoying the scenery, we will return to the starting point for lunch. Then we will board the bus back to Cusco, arriving approximately at 17:00 hrs near the main square.
