Bello Horizonte Ecolodge
DAY 1

Visit the Botanical Garden, Aguajal Trail and Canopy Walk.

La emocionante aventura comienza en Puerto Maldonado, donde nos alojaremos en un cómodo Lodge. Visitaremos un jardín botánico, haremos un recorrido por el aguajal y para finalizar el día disfrutaremos de una experiencia en el Canopy.

DAY 2

Visit to the Macaw Clay Lick and Sandoval Lake

At sunrise we will go to the pier to the Collpa Cachuela, where we will observe parrots and parakeets feeding on clay. After breakfast we will navigate the Madre de Dios River to the Tambopata National Reserve. We will hike to Sandoval Lake, where we will see various animals, then we will sail in search of river otters and caimans.

DAY 3

TREK THROUGH THE GIANTS AND VISIT SANTA TERESA LAKE

On this day, we will explore the Amazonian fauna on a hike among trees such as the Lupuna. Then, we will sail on Santa Teresa Lake to observe birds, insects and reptiles, enjoying the sunset and the night life.

DAY 4

TRANSFER TO THE AIRPORT

On this day at an appropriate time we will transfer you to the airport to take your departure flight to Lima.

Recommendations

  • Bring your original identity card or passport with you.
  • Consult with your doctor who takes your health history, and have a yellow fever vaccination and malaria prophylaxis at least 4 weeks in advance.
  • Carry a small backpack along with your camera, hat, sunscreen, mosquito repellent and a bottle of water.
  • Pack light and breathable luggage,
  • Bring flashlights, rain poncho, binoculars, towels, long cotton pants and polo shirts, swimwear and several pairs of socks.

Full Tour Itinerary

DAY 1

WELCOME TO PUERTO MALDONADO - LODGE

Upon arrival, you will check-in and drive along the inter-oceanic highway for approximately 20 km to the Lodge. Upon arrival, you will be welcomed with a refreshing tropical fruit cocktail, followed by a delicious appetizer typical of the region.

The first visit will be to the botanical garden, where our guide will provide a fascinating interpretation of the plants with healing properties used by the native communities. After lunch with regional dishes, we will explore the immense aguajal, surrounded by lush vegetation and arrive at the canopy, a platform for bird and monkey watching, also enjoying the twilight before returning to the ecolodge for dinner.

DAY 2

COLLPAS DE GUACAMAYOS - LAKE SANDOVAL

We will leave early at dawn to the pier to go to the Cachuela clay lick, where we will be able to witness the diversity of parrots and parakeets that perch on the clay. We will have breakfast on the boat while enjoying the majestic scenery of the Madre de Dios River.

We will continue along the river until we reach the Tambopata National Reserve, where we will hike 3 km to the beautiful Sandoval Lake. Along the way, we will be able to see monkeys, birds and other mammals. At the lake, we will sail to observe river otters and caimans. Afterwards, we will enjoy a typical lunch in a local house before returning to the lodge.

DAY 3

TREK THROUGH THE GIANTS - VISIT SANTA TERESA LAKE

After a good night's rest, you will wake up to birdsong and some mammal sounds. After breakfast, we will begin a hike surrounded by imposing trees such as the Lupuna and various Amazonian trees. You will be able to enjoy our natural spring water pool or take pictures in the surroundings. Afterwards, a typical lunch awaits us at the lodge.

In the afternoon, we will explore a beautiful lake in the local community of Santa Teresa, a private protected area. During the navigation, we will have the opportunity to observe a variety of birds, insects, frogs and reptiles. We will also appreciate the sunset and the nocturnal fauna of the lake before returning to the lodge for dinner.

DAY 4

TRANSFER TO AIRPORT

On this day, at an appropriate time, we will transfer you to the airport to take your departure flight to Lima.
