The Inca Trail is a trekking route in Peru that goes to the ancient city of Machu Picchu. It is famous for its stunning scenery and archaeological sites. The trek usually takes four days and takes approximately 43 kilometers through diverse landscapes, such as Andean mountains, cloud forests and subtropical jungles.
The highlight of the trek is the arrival at Machu Picchu, the Inca citadel located high in the Andes. Along the way, hikers pass several Inca ruins, such as Wiñay Wayna and Intipata. Due to its popularity, the Inca Trail requires permits and advance reservations are essential.
