Sacred Valley, Cusco
The tour begins with the pick up at your hotel, to start an adventure tour through the most important archaeological parks of the Sacred Valley of the Incas. We will head north to the Paucarbamba bridge (2900 m.a.s.l.), where our horses will be waiting for us. We will cross the Urubamba River and begin the ascent of approximately 400 meters to the high plateau of the Andes. This ascent will take us approximately 3:30 hours. On the way, we will enjoy the beautiful landscapes that surround the sacred valley.
We will arrive at the archaeological center of Moray, a peculiar complex due to the shape of the circular terraces that formed different levels of agricultural terraces and served as an agricultural laboratory in Inca times to experiment with the acclimatization and varification of species. After our visit to Moray, we will continue our ride to Maras (3400 m.a.s.l.) for approximately one hour. Maras is a typical Andean village that boasts a wonderful 400 year old colonial church. It is here that we will have our picnic lunch.
After lunch, we will continue to the salt mines of Maras (3000 m.a.s.l.) for approximately one hour, on the way we will have a spectacular view of the snow-capped mountains Chicon, Veronica and Salcantay. The salt mines of Maras are made up of approximately 5000 wells with an average area of 5m2, during the dry season they are filled or "irrigated" every 3 days with salt water that emanates from a natural spring located at the top of the wells. This process is carried out for approximately two months until a considerable volume of salt is obtained. Return to Cusco, end of this full day ride through the Sacred Valley on Creole horses.

Paucarbamba, a picturesque village located in the district of Maras, province of Urubamba, in the Cusco region, stands out for its breathtaking views and beautiful landscapes. In addition, during the horseback riding tour through the Sacred Valley, you will have the opportunity to pass by this charming place.
The Urubamba River, also called Vilcanota River in Quechua, is one of the main rivers of Peru and contributes to the Ucayali River, part of the Amazon basin. It rises in Cusco and flows through the mountain valley, witnessing Inca vestiges such as Machu Picchu. In its lower course, it passes through a sparsely populated region and enters the Amazon jungle before confluing with the Tambo River and forming the Ucayali River, one of the main tributaries of the Amazon River.
Maras is a quaint town located in the Sacred Valley of the Incas, known mainly for its impressive salt mines. In addition to its natural beauty, the town preserves colonial architecture and cobblestone streets. The salt mines of Maras are a unique wonder, composed of thousands of salt evaporation wells dating back to Inca times.
The salt mines of Maras are a natural and historical wonder, composed of more than four thousand salt evaporation wells that are filled with salt water from a natural spring located at the top. This salt water is allowed to evaporate gradually, leaving salt crystals that are collected and processed. The salt pans offer a breathtaking view, with a landscape that looks like something out of another world, where the salt wells create a mosaic of colors that vary according to the sunlight.
Moray is a very peculiar archaeological complex due to its unique design of concentric circular platforms. These terraces served as an experimental agricultural laboratory during the Inca Empire. It is believed that the layout of the terraces and their strategic location created different microclimates that allowed experimentation with a variety of crops. The view from Moray is spectacular, with the terraced terraces creating a geometric pattern in the landscape.
