Overview Inca Trail Machu Picchu

DAY 1: CUSCO - KM 104 - MACHU PICCHU

Our Inca Trail tour of 2 days and 1 night to the citadel of Machupicchu, starts early in the morning, we will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco to transfer by car to Ollantaytambo, upon arrival we will board the train to Machupicchu, and we will descend from the train at km 104, to begin our journey on foot.

Itinerary by Hours:

05:20 – 07:20 am

Pick up from your hotel in Cusco and transfer to Ollantaytambo train station.

07:45 – 09:00 am

Travel by train from Ollantaytambo to Km 104 with your guide.

09:00 – 09:30 am

Registration and brief coordination with our guide.

09:30 – 14:15 pm

Walk along the Inca Trail with visits to the archaeological groups of Chachabamba (2150m), Wiñaywayna (2650 m).

14:15 – 15:45 pm

Hike to the Intipunku or Sun Gate, the point from which we will have our first view of the Sacred Citadel of Machu Picchu.

15:45 – 16:25 pm

Walk to Machu Picchu where we can appreciate and take our classic postcards of Machu Picchu.

18:10 – 20:00 pm

Bus ride down to the town of Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu Pueblo).

19:00 – 20:00 pm

Dinner and coordination with the guide for the next day's tour.

DAY 2: MACHU PICCHU TOUR

Early in the morning we will have breakfast at the hotel and we can take the bus that will take us to the archaeological sanctuary of Machu Picchu. The trip is by bus and finally we will arrive to Machu Picchu. Our guide will start the guided tour for you to know better the history and architecture of the Inca City of Machu Picchu.

Itinerary by Hours:

06:00 – 07:00 am

Bus ride from Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu.

07:00 – 09:30 am

Guided tour with visits to the most important sites of the archaeological group of Machu Picchu.

Bus back to Aguas Calientes.

Free time in Aguas Calientes for lunch, visit the town or the thermal baths (on your own).

16:22 – 18:10 pm

Return train from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo.

Travel by van from Ollantaytambo to your hotel in Cusco.

Itinerary Inca Trail Machu Picchu

DAY 1: Cusco - km 104 - Wiñaywayna - Aguas Calientes

A new adventure awaits us and we will pick you up from your hotel at 4:00 a.m. to start the journey to the train station in Ollantaytambo. Once in Ollantaytambo at the indicated time we will board the train that passes through the Sacred Valley of the Incas until we reach km 104, and immediately begin our hike.

During the journey you will observe spectacular scenery, mountains, snow-capped mountains and the mighty Urubamba River contemplating the flora and fauna that borders the Peruvian Andes, it is here where you will be provided with a delicious lunch made with Andean products, energy drinks and a photo for the memory.

We continue the hike uphill until we reach the most beautiful site of the Inca Trail called Wiñaywayna at 2600 masl or 8500 feet. Already in Wiñaywayna, we continue our hike to the Sun Gate, where we will have the first view of the wonder of the world Machu Picchu, then we begin the descent for 45 minutes to reach the famous Inca viewpoint, from which you can observe the sunset and sunset, a great advantage of this hike is that Machu Picchu in the afternoon is with fewer visitors compared to the morning, so you can enjoy Machu Picchu without crowds.

After taking pictures for the memory of your trip, we board the bus to the town of Aguas Calientes and head to your assigned hotel, in the evening you will have dinner included.

After dinner, the recommendation is to go to bed early to make the most of the next day. Overnight in Aguas Calientes.

DAY 2: Machu Picchu Tour

We will start very early and we will go for 10 minutes to the bus station, to start the ascent of 400 m high for 30 minutes, finally we arrive to the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu to enjoy the sunrise, the view is really impressive, we will enjoy the guided tour for approximately 02 hours for you to know better the history and architecture of the Inca City of Machu Picchu. You will be amazed with the Inca constructions and temples, as well as the natural environment that surrounds the wonder of the world.

After the tour you will have free time to continue exploring Machu Picchu and take pictures to remember your visit. In the afternoon we will take the bus back to Aguas Calientes where you will have time to have lunch, rest and visit the town of Aguas Calientes.  At the appointed time you will board the train back to Ollantaytambo where a staff will be waiting to transfer you to your hotel in Cusco.

THE VOYAGER- INKA RAIL

Wiñaywayna (2600 masl)

Wiñaywayna, which means "Forever young" in Quechua, is an Inca archaeological site on the route of the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, built by Pachacutec in the 15th century. At an altitude of 2650 masl, this site offers religious and agricultural functions, noted for its complexes of houses, stairways and agricultural terraces on a steep hillside overlooking the Urubamba River.

Sun Gate

Inti Punku, also known as the Sun Gate, is an archaeological site on the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. It is located at an altitude of 2,720 meters above sea level and offers an impressive view of the Inca citadel. It was the main entry point to Machu Picchu and has symbolic and religious significance for the Incas. Today, it is a popular spot for hikers hiking the Inca Trail.
