The Salkantay to Machupicchu trek was recently named among the top 25 treks in the world, it is one of the richest trails to Machupicchu in terms of natural beauty due to its unique geographical position. Salkantay is the highest mountain in the Cordillera Vilcabamba and you will have the opportunity to see beautiful landscapes with a great variety of flora and fauna, you can camp in remote places below the imposing and imposing snow-capped mountain.
Day 1
We start the day by picking you up from your hotel and drive to Anta and Mollepata and then stop to enjoy a delicious optional short breakfast. We will continue to Challacancha, the starting point for our trek. We will start trekking to Soraypampa, the first camp on our trip, where we will have our lunch, then we will walk to the unforgettable Humantay Lake. We will be back at our campsite.
Day 2
After a quick but energizing breakfast, we will start trekking up to the Salkantay Passage between the base of the rocky valley and the magnificent Salkantay mountain and then downhill to Huayracmachay for lunch. In the afternoon after our lunch, we will enter the upper part of the Amazon rainforest, which is also called "cloud forest". We will arrive at Chaullay Village our campsite.
Day 3
We will begin our hike to the small village of La Playa through the Santa Teresa valley. After a hearty lunch in La Playa, we will hike for about 1 hour to our base camp called Lucmabamba.
Day 4
We will start the hike early in the morning, arriving at the Llactapata Inca site just in front of Machu Picchu. On this part of the trail, we arrive at the Hidroelectrica train station for lunch. After lunch, we will arrive at Intiwatana, after passing this interesting Inca site, we will reach the train tracks that lead to the town of Aguas Calientes.
Day 5
We will rise early to climb to the top of Machu Picchu. Here we will have a 2 hour guided tour through this incredible ancient city to visit temples, terraces, palaces, priests' houses, the sundial, the industrial sector and the cultivated fields. Then we will return by train to Ollantaytambo and then take our bus to Cusco.

Free time for breakfast and we will have a chat with our guide.
We arrive at Soraypampa where our support staff will go ahead to our camp and we will start our hike towards the mysterious Humantay Lagoon at the base of the snow-capped mountain.
Upon returning from our hike we will find that our cook has prepared us an incredible lunch and we will have the afternoon free to enjoy the incredible panorama, in the evening we will enjoy our dinner and spend the night in our camp ready for us.

we start the ascent to the Salkantay pass. We will have some free time to enjoy the place and take pictures of this great place, then we will begin the descent to the first village where we will enjoy our lunch.
We will continue our journey until we reach the village of Chaullay where we will finally spend the night camping.

We will take our transportation to get to Santa Teresa.
We will enjoy our afternoon free to get to know the city and we have the option to go to the hot springs of cocalmayo and spend the night in our camp in Santa Teresa.

Time enough to enjoy our lunch.
We start our hike along the railway from hydroelectric to the town of Aguas Calientes.
We will have the afternoon free to visit the town and enjoy the hot springs and spend the night in a comfortable hotel.
Overnight in Aguas Calientes
We will ascend by bus to the majestic Inca city of Machu Picchu.
Guided tour with visits to the most important sites of the archaeological group of Machu Picchu.
Descent by bus to Aguas Calientes from Machu Picchu.
Free time in Aguas Calientes for lunch, visit the town or the thermal baths (on your own).
Return train from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo.
Travel by van from Ollantaytambo to your hotel in Cusco.
Note. All times shown above are approximations, this will vary depending on how the group progresses along the route.
Day 1
Early in the morning we will be picked up at the hotel and head towards the Humantay Lagoon, known for its crystal clear waters and breathtaking views of the nearby snow-capped mountains. After approximately 2 hours, we will stop in Mollepata for breakfast if you have not already done so (not included in the package) and do the last necessary shopping. We will follow the route for another hour until we reach Challacancha. Where our team will be ready to welcome us (cook, muleteers, mules) and give the instructions for the adventure.
Later, we will arrive at our camp in Soraypampa and have lunch. From here, we will see the two beautiful snow-capped mountains, El Humantay and the one we will visit, El Salkantay. In the afternoon, we will depart to the Humantay Lake and witness the crystal clear water of the lake and the impressive views of the mountain at the top. There will be time to enjoy the wonderful views, take pictures and breathe the purest air of all. Return to camp for tea and dinner.

Day 2
Early in the morning, we will enjoy breakfast and begin the real challenge of the trek, climbing uphill to reach 4650 m or 15,255 ft. at the Salkantay pass. The road is steep and rocky and this stretch will require physical endurance as well as good acclimatization.
At this point there will be a brief rest while enjoying incredible views of the Salkantay Mountain. Then, we will start descending towards Wayraqmachay where we will have lunch. After lunch, we will resume the hike for 2.5 hours until we arrive to Chaullay, place of our campsite, dinner and camping.

Day 3
After breakfast, we start our third day towards the small ranch of La Playa. This part of the trail is less demanding with a generally warm climate, we will enjoy the lush landscape: small rivers, wonderful views of waterfalls, native plants, wild orchids, colorful birds and tropical fruits such as coffee, bananas, avocado, passion fruit, etc.
We will pass through the village of Collpapampa, also known as "the top of the cloud forest". A few hours later we will arrive at Sahuayaco beach (Playa Sahuayaco), where we will have lunch and then continue to our campsite in Lucmabamba, where we can visit the coffee plantations and their production process.

Day 4
We will start the day with an energetic breakfast and a walk through the high jungle. We will be able to appreciate a great variety of crops such as coffee, banana, avocado, pineapple and even coca leaves, considered the sacred leaf of the Incas.
We will ascend to the archaeological site of Llactapata, where we will be able to see part of Machupicchu and the entire valley that surrounds it. After the visit we will descend to the Aobamba Valley for approximately 2 hours until we reach Hidroeléctrica, where we will have lunch. We will resume our hike for 3 more hours until we reach Aguas Calientes, also called Machupicchu Pueblo, the village at the foot of the magnificent Wonder of the World.

Day 5
Early in the morning, we will take the shared bus to climb the most famous Inca site of the country: Machupicchu, "Old Summit" in Quechua language. During your guided tour (about 2h), we will discover, still shrouded in the morning mist, this architectural complex built on a narrow ridge bordered by cliffs. A breathtaking view that evolves with the progression of the sun.
Then we will walk through the alleys of the citadel, its neighborhoods, its squares, its royal houses, its agricultural areas, its trails and its observatories.
After the guided tour, we descend to Aguas Calientes to take the train to Poroy (the closest train stop to the city of Cusco).
Arrival to Poroy, transfer to your hotel and end of services to continue to another destination or excursion.
Additional activities to do on site: (not included in the package and booked in advance)
Possibility to add the ascent to Waynapicchu Mountain or Machupicchu Mountain according to availability (these mountains are part of the landscape of the citadel of Machupicchu and have different schedules and entrances, as they take more time to climb and visit).
